Our week was rather mellow… somewhat unproductive, I’m afraid. I’m not feeling 100% but can’t decide whether or not I’m coming down sick or not. Some chest congestion, slightly sore throat, and a cough that is threatening to develop has kept me moving a little more slowly this week. The boys are moving right along in their math, amazingly! I don’t know why I’m surprised, but D1 & D2 are both keeping pace with one another in their math lessons. They’ve both been on the same #lesson or test since school started! Last year D1 really kind of stalled out there for a while, and slipped back a bit. I was really worried that he might stagnate too long, but he’s taken right off again and he really enjoys math to boot! Can’t complain about that. D2 lost his Beta DVD, so today when he needed to watch it for his new lesson, he couldn’t find it. He said, “That’s okay. I’ll just look at my book and see if I need it.” He looked at his new lesson, realized it was skip counting by 2’s, declared it “EASY!” and finished the first page of the lesson in about 7 minutes.
D1 was in turtle mode today, taking the better part of the afternoon to do his assignment. Might have had to do with the fact that MOM had errands to run and was in and out all day long, with big sis watching the boys. :-\
My errands? Well first I showed up 2 hours early for my dentist appointment. Yes, I really did!! I walked in, checked in at the desk and the receptionist said, “Dawn, your appointment is at 1:00, not 11:00. Will you be back then?” LOL Oh yes, I really did. So I called the lady who cuts my hair and got a haircut time instead. Then when I went back I was five minutes late for my dentist appointment. It figures! I did go home in between.
This week I also spent a total of 3 hours dealing with HP tech support, trying to get my wireless printing to work from my laptop again. Something between Windows 7 and HP just are NOT meshing. And of course each blames the other.
In history and Bible, the boys and I are really seeing the “big picture” unfolding, and it’s really neat! We’re reading Hurlbut’s Story of the Bible, and M.B. Synge’s On the Shores of the Great Sea. We began each at the start of the school year, so we started in Genesis. Both books have us up to reading about Moses passing away and the Hebrews entering the Promised Land. The Synge book actually takes a truly historical path, and so there is background information on Egypt and the Hebrews also. It has been so VERY interesting, and we are adding neat things to our Egypt lapbook all the time. We’ve got just a few more weeks of Egypt to go, and I need to make sure we’re on track to finish up the Egypt reading by that time. So far we’ve all really enjoyed this study! The highlight for my boys so far has been the hieroglyphic stamps though, of course. Oh that and seeing papyrus mats with Egyptian paintings on them, at the FAIR of all places! Egypt has been fun this time around!
Last but certainly not least, today (Saturday Nov. 7th) is International Digital Scrapbooking Day! You can find a good list of freebies, chats, and challenge events at DigiScrap 101! I’ll be following those blog trains & chats around all day! Maybe we’ll see one another!

Sounds like a good week, and I will definitely have to check out the Scrapbooking Day link!
What a good week, even with maybe coming down with something. I’ve been fighting off a “little” something, too. What good news about math! Math is hard for my oldest, too, but I think we are finally getting somewhere, too. We also started using Switched on Schoolhouse this week with the oldest and I think we’re REALLY going to like this. I hope you start feeling better soon! Have fun digiscrapping. =)
