WFMW: Blog & Internet formatting being lost?

Since I heard that today’s Works for Me Wednesday is the Backwards Edition, it’s all about asking for help, and I have a serious question for some serious tech-nerds.  Every so often, when I check Hotmail, Twitter, Facebook, or my WordPress blog (self-hosted), I can log in but then:

  • Hotmail won’t let me view anything beyond my inbox
  • Facebook won’t let me update status, and has totally lost formatting (no graphics)
  • Twitter has lost formatting (no graphics), but will let me tweet, just not reply to a tweet or DM anyone
  • My blog loses it’s formatting (no graphics on the Dashboard)

This happened day before yesterday and I tried clearing cookies, restarting Firefox, etc. I finally backed up my bookmarks and uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox.  Everything worked after that, until this morning.  Now my blog has lost it’s formatting again and I can’t read my email.  These don’t always occur ALL together, but sometimes they do.  Presently I’m using Google Chrome to access the internet, and everything is just fine with that.

Is there a way to fix this? Is is a Firefox issue?  I have Windows 7 but this happened before I upgraded too.  Chrome and Safari both work fine, but I love Firefox and I’m concerned with the security issues of the other two so I’d rather not use them full time. And yes, I have a PC, not a Mac. We use Webroot Internet Security, and run regular virus scans.

So, what WORKS for THIS?  Please help?
