D1 is 9 now. “Nine and a HALF”, as he would correct me. He had his annual OT Evaluation last Monday, and we got good news! His OT has discharged him from individual OT again, for a while. [...] All of you notebookers out there, I’m looking for suggestions. I have tons of notebooking supplies, pages, pens, glue, and the kids each have a notebook. I love how notebooks turn out, even by the youngest kids, because they are invested in the end result. They remember what they learn when they produce [...] When D1 saw the speech therapist on Monday, I brought something up which has concerned me lately. D1 has really taken an interest in reading. He’s a very good reader, and he is beginning to enjoy it too. What I have noticed though, is that since his reading skills have finally come together [...] D1 is doing well, speech-wise. With his therapist he is working on language goals– particularly answering “WHY” questions, STILL. He is dealing with a little stammering still, although having him “Slow down, take a breath, now say it” helps. His speech therapist thinks he began stammering as a way for his brain [...] School and classroom accommodations, that is. Considering that this is the beginning of the school year, many parents are still in IEP mode… attempting to get their child’s IEP’s set up for the year, and figuring out how the teacher and support staff will implement that IEP.
